Matignon High School One Matignon Road Cambridge, MA 02140
December 2009
Dear Parents/Guardians and Students:
I hope that everyone in the Matignon High School Community enjoyed a safe and joyous Thanksgiving. While we remember those in need, the Matignon High School family is mindful of the many reasons we are thankful at this time of year.
The end of November also marked the close of the fall season for athletics. Our girls’ and boys’ soccer squads qualified for the State Tournament and the girls’ team became the Catholic Central League Champions. The golf team enjoyed its best record in years. We are very proud of all our athletes who participated in the fall, regardless of the wins and losses. While representing Matignon High School, our teams played with outstanding school spirit and determination while also exhibiting character and sportsmanship.
December is a very exciting and busy month for everyone at Matignon High School. The month brings the drama performance, the SAT exam, the calendar drive, and Mass on the Feast of the Immaculate Conception. On December 2nd, there are two special events at the school for both students and their families. The college financial aid night will occur at 7PM preceded by our 3rd annual tree lighting ceremony at 6:15PM outside the main entrance to the school. It is a wonderful opportunity for our entire Matignon family to celebrate the Christmas season by singing carols and drinking hot chocolate.
I, along with the entire staff, would like to extend our most sincere wishes to our students and their families for a glorious and holy Christmas season. Although it is a hectic month, it is a time for everyone to celebrate many wonderful traditions. It is also a time to be grateful for everything that we have in our lives and to do whatever we can to bring joy and comfort into the life of those less fortunate than ourselves.
The Christmas season is my favorite time of the year. Everyone becomes nicer, more patient, and more compassionate than they may be at other times of the year. As Norman Vincent Peale once said, “Christmas waves a magic wand over this World, and behold, everything is softer and more beautiful.”
Sincerely,
Joseph A. DiSarcina Principal
